Research has shown that hypnotherapy is one of the best ways of helping to reduce, even eliminate, hot flushes. A panel of experts reviewed the results from multiple clinical trials and found hypnotherapy is more effective than any of the herbal supplements, including black Cohosh or other alternative therapies such as acupuncture. Research at Baylor University, Texas found that women who had 5 weekly sessions of hypnotherapy and received a recording of the sessions to listen to at home, reported after 12 weeks that their hot flushes had reduced by 75% and when combined with severity and frequency they were reduced by 80%. Participants also declared a significant reduction that hot flushes played in their lives. They also reported better sleep.
Although they are uncertain how hypnotherapy works to help reduce hot flushes now there is such a positive study of the efficacy of hypnosis.
